inspiration

most of you who know me (and hopefully that is most of you who are reading this web page!) know that i'm not often one to voluntarily speak of music. not that i don't enjoy it but just that i'm not one who can easily rhyme off song titles or artists in any meaningful way. so i hope you can appreciate how much this band has inspired me. what follows is MY version of the ride theory/arcade fire concert that i went to see last wednesday night at Clark Hall Pub. for a technical/expertise opinion of the show look elsewhere. when i started this post it was the day after the concert. now is well over a week later and i'm still completely smitten with the band.

the show started out with a huge line up of people who didn't have tickets. thanks to blakie who warned us about the on line purchasing or we would have been one of those people. the opening act ride theory was pretty good. there were some catchy songs but also some seriously out of tune 'harmonizing' in the first couple of songs. after a while they seemed to warm up and then things went smoothly.

arcade fire started late because i'm pretty sure they hadn't had a sound check yet and the clark hall sound system wasn't exactly co-operating with their squillion instruments. eventually and many ear-piercing feedbacks later the show started. the energy was incredible and it never diminished. not only was the set really tight but the crazy dancy guy with the glasses kept me entertained with his craziness the whole time. before i knew it it was 2:00 and the encore was over. ever since i've been listening to arcade fire, humming their songs as i walk down the street and anxiously waiting their return. hopefully next time they will play a venue that holds more than 150 people.

and this concludes my first and propably last music related posting.
