book ends
so weeks two through five of placement passed without too much of note. the placement was very challenging and it's true kids DO say the darndest things. i kept myself occupied during hours of 'play' by teaching the little ones how to say 'easy-peasy' and 'uh-oh-spaghetti-o'...it is truely adorable to hear a two year old esl kid say easy-peasy. i laughed a lot but not AT them...really.
as a sad note of interest: my very first term at university in 1998 my grandfather passed away at the age of 90 and 7 months. this past week in my very last term of university my grandmother, his wife, passed away at the age of 90 and 7 months. creepy. needless to say this week has been filled with the chaos of finishing a very demanding placement and preparing to attend my grandmother's funeral. the funeral was a classic parkes family affair full of irreverence and laughter, my cousin's laugh and stories about my grandmother's underpants. and that was just at the service! all in all it was a fantastic celebration of my grandmother's life and her legacy of our family.
now i am done school forever and joining the ranks of the unemployed. i am actually back in ktown this week packing up the apartment to move everything back to toronto. i have the purging bug and am doing my best to pare down the excessive amounts of crap that i have somehow accumulated in the last 7 years living in ktown. i'm also doing my best to decrease my alcohol stores...i'm feeling quite proper at the moment enjoying a nice stiff g&t...perhaps i should sign off before the truth juice really starts flowing.
anyone out there want to give me a job?

I'm not sure if you're still in K-Town, but Mitch and I are lunching at Common Ground on Sunday at 1PM.
You are most welcome to join us!
