toronto week one...
so i'm officially back in toronto, living with the parents. and it has not disappointed. i'll start at the beginning.
i arrived last weekend with much anxiety building over my national exam which was sunday. friday and saturday were dedicated to study study study and carving out a place for myself in my old bedroom/father's astrophotography office. the four hour exam started with little interest. around 11 (hour 2) there began to be some comotion outside of the window of the building we were writing in. intermittent unintelligable loud speaker use. around 11:30 the pipe and drum corps kicked in, 11:45 full volume polka music from county mayo...that's right ladies and gentlemen the annual st. patrick's day parade was grand marshalling outside the window of exam room. this is where things started to get interesting for some. i was one of the lucky ones. i had already finished the majority of the exam so the music etc was not upsetting me too much. for others though i can only imagine the stress levels. just after 12 they told everyone to pick up their desks and chairs and move them silently into the hallway. i took this opportunity to leave. i had almost completed reading over my exam and i couldn't tolerate all the moving about and delaying. we shall see if that is detrimental to my results...eeeeep.
my placement started on monday and looks like it is going to be very challenging and a great learning opportunity. i have two supervisors so not only do i have to adapt to two styles of treatment but i have to switch between them through out the day. the children are great fun to work will but i'm starting to understand the complexity of working with the youngins...why can't they just do what i say?!
living at home is as expected and the dial up is preventing me from keeping in very good touch with anyone...not that i was very good at it before.
this week is wind up to my birthday long weekend so if any of you out there in cyberspace are going to be in toronto give me a shout and i'll give you the low down on the b-day plans.
