skipping ahead
okay i'm giving up on trying to write about everthing i do cause there just isnt' time. this past week in one sentence: rob left (sad), went shopping (VERY fun), went to the british museum a couple of times after work (underwhelming so far), finished up the national gallery (started in the wrong wing the first time).
last night andrea and i went to vinopollis which is a wines of the world museum and wine tasting experience led by two schmaltzy guys in an audio tour. the museum covers all the major wine regions of the world and then you have the opportunity to taste 5 wines and one bombay saphire martini. it was quite fun although different than i expected. there was less information about what type of wine i was tasting and more general information. it was still a very interesting and different way to spend an evening. we then headed to fish! for dinner where we had a truly delicious sup with a little more wine. our waiter was interesting when i asked for a dessert menu he brought the bill. luckily for him tip was already included in the bill. yikes. the restaurant is near borough market where we were last weekend the fish was fresh fresh fresh. it was amazing. i had tuna with spicy salsa, new potatoes and a warm chocolate fondant for dessert. the dessert was a highlight.
today i did a touristing blitz with st. paul's cathedral, the 1666 fire monument, ledenthal market (also from harry potter) and the tower of london. i am currently exhausted. i walked up the 503 steps to enjoy the view from the very top of the st. paul's cathedral and opted out of the steps at the monument. the cathedral is partially under reconstruction/restoration but it was still amazing. there are some really intensly coloured mosaics in the ceiling and the decorations are really neat. i think that sir christopher wren is my new favourite architect. the the tower of london was interesting. there were a lot of tourists there but it wasn't nearly as busy as i'd expected. there was a lot of history and some HUGE diamonds in addition to the crown jewel exhibit. they were so big it was hard to believe they were real. it was crazy but very pretty.
tonight and tomorrow i think i'm going to take it easy cause next weekend is PARIS!!!! i'm very excited about that and i have friday afternoon off so andrea and i can actually spend some quality time there. soon i'm hoping to have some pictures up here so you can all see and read. yay!
