delayed but arrived. day 1.
so i've finally arrived in london! my flight was delayed taking off, landing, finding a gate to disembark and then the luggage mechanism broke. not to mention that the infamous tube was in the middle of a signal malfunction so there were about 5 million people on the train with me and andrea and my luggage!
in spite of the 2 hours of sleep i had got on the plane andrea and i decided to do a little touring around. yesterday was the opening of the Princess Diana memorial in Hyde Park. by the time we got there it was 12:30 (i was scheduled to land at 7:30) and the Royals and Spencers had already put in there time and left. but luckily for us they were just starting to let the plebs in to get a close look and play in the fountain. while we were sitting there dangling our toes in the memorial (is that irreverent?) who should walk up but rob!! completely unplanned meeting (on account of me giving him andrea's old number). so we continued to wander for a while, ran into rick and judy (!?!) and then grabbed some more food and headed to Regent's Park to check out the rose gardens. these parks are unbelievable. the roses were amazing and i had no idea there were so many varieties.
perhaps the most exciting part of our day was on the way to dinner we walked right by Christian Slater! and then on the way home from dinner Sophia Coppola!! well at least i'm pretty sure it was Sophia...about 90%. if it wasn't her it was a SHOCKING look-a-like. although i didn't partake in dinner (it would have been meal 6 for me that day) the pizza place was super cute and the nibbles i had were delicious.
today rob and i are heading for brighton. hopefully to see a beach and enjoy another beautiful day. i think that londoners tell everyone there weather is crap to keep the tourists away, so far it has been nicer than toronto was this weekend.
