the posting that wasn't

so on sunday morning i got up bright and early to write a blog posting before andrea and i were to meet for a much needed day of retail therapy. sadly after twenty minutes of typing and clicking publish the whole thing was wiped off the screen and my computer calmly went to a completely unrelated page never to return again to my entry. sigh. of course it goes with out saying that it was the wittiest, most elegant and clearly insightful piece i have ever written. i'm sad that only i could enjoy it before it was no more. here is the much less witty, elegant and insightful re-iteration of the entry.

last week went by very quickly as it always does once i start a placement. i had a good week at the hospital and think i'm starting to get the hang of things although i realized a couple of days ago i'd been discussing my blue pants with two of the other students. kindly they didn't say anything but they must have been rather shocked. here pants=panties. at least it wasn't with a patient! i now have two longer-term patients of my own. they are both very interesting and complex cases and will prove challenging but fun to work with. there are a lot of meetings and meetings about other meetings and meetings to arrange future times to meet but i think that is probably true of any hospital that is that big. this week has started off well with the return of another therapist from vacation and the departure of two of the other students. i spent all morning today on a home visit (4 hours) that was supposed to last 2 hours. it was very intersting and a nice break from the onslaught of monday meetings.

on thursday last week rob, andrea and i had dinner at the best burger place in london (or so they claim) and then headed to hyde park. i had the garlic mayo burger which was delicious but anyone who had to talk to me/sit near me/ or be down wind paid for it for the rest of the night. no vampires in sight though. in hyde park we were joined by andrea's friend eric (aka craig) and with the rest of the cheap skates watched the simon and garfunkel concert from outside of the fencing. honestly, i'm not sure who would have paid 100£ when the view from 20 m away was free! we could hear perfectly and see one of the large tv screens through a break in the fencing. we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine care of eric. it was such a great concert and they played all the crowd pleasers much to the delight of the crowd. andrea and i were inspired to be Those people who spontaneously break into interpretive dance and make complete fools of themselves because they are having so much fun. luckily it was getting dark. sadly rob's camera has a flash.

friday we all went out for a lovely dinner to walnut where andrea's friend lucy works. i had a delicious grilled sea bass with tomato-cilantro salsa, rocket and parmeasan salad and a warm chocolate tart for dessert.  we finished up our night with a drink at the gallery bar which had pretty much spilled out onto the street because it was such a pleasant evening.

saturday was a final touring blitz for rob and we hit the museum of london in the morning. it was a little disappointing with replicas filling in for actual artifacts in a LOT of the displays. there was also way too much reading which quickly became tiresome. i do plan on going back for the section on the 1920s that we did not have time to view (and that costs money, boooo).  time running out to be continued.
